These Air Fryer Tuna Cakes have so much flavor and no guilt! So easy to make and packed with flavor.
Dinner Planning!!!
We found these great tuna steaks at the grocery store. The first time we made them we rolled the tuna in sesame seeds and pan-fried them. Last night, when we were trying to plan dinner, we discovered we really had nothing in the house except for a few things in the freezer and refrigerator. Our pantry is so empty we didn't even have sesame seeds!!!! I really need to make a run to the grocery store.😄
Anyway, back to the tuna steaks. We love Crab Cakes and figured why not make Tuna Cakes? And of course, we had to make them in the Air Fryer (you guys know we do love the air fryer😁 ). Also, why heat up the house when the Air Fryer will do a great job and cuts the calories of using oil?
Tuna Cakes
Now that we decided to make Tuna Cakes the search was on for what to mix into the tuna. There was a ½ Red Bell Pepper and ½ Orange Bell Pepper and ½ Red Onion in the fridge left over from the Summer Pasta salad we made a few days ago. Oh, and guess what else we found???? ½ of a lemon. We were in luck!!!! It was like the little bit that was left in our fridge was just waiting to be added to the tuna.
The only spice we used was our new favorite spice, roasted garlic powder, and of course some salt. Now we are on a roll! Out came the food processor, we chopped the tuna, peppers, and onions. Once again we are thankful for our herb garden providing us with fresh parsley and dill. We mixed everything together and rolled the tuna in Panko and popped them into the Air Fryer. 15 minutes later.... dinner was ready!!😀
Sauce
One of our favorite sauces for seafood and even chicken strips is a Spicy Ranch Dressing dip. It is tangy and zesty. The problem with this sauce it's hard to stop eating! It went great with the Tuna Cakes.
Mix together:
- Ranch Dressing - ½ Cup
- Roasted garlic powder - ½ teaspoon
- Cayenne Pepper - ½ teaspoon
- Tabasco sauce - add the amount you like. We did 10 dashes!
Tuna Cake TIPS:
- Using olive oil cooking spray to help brown the tuna cakes and to keep them from sticking to the air fryer
- The Tuna Cakes can be made a day ahead. Just cover and store in the fridge until ready to cook
- Reheating the tuna cakes in the microwave works great
