Roasted Garlic
I wish I could add a button that you could press so you could smell this cooking! Or a scratch-and-sniff screen!!! Garlic can be strong, but roasted garlic is milder, sweeter, and, well, PERFECT! Not to mention how easy it is to prepare. Usually, we roast a head of garlic as needed. However, this time, we decided to make a major stash of roasted garlic. Why not always have roasted garlic in the fridge? Of course, I don't know how long it will last. We tried to think of a way to mix it in cream cheese and put it on a bagel for breakfast. Yes! Garlic for breakfast! Dreams do come true.
So, Just how Easy is Roasted Garlic?
Step 1:
Previously, garlic was purchased one head at a time, but now you can buy as much as you want!! It's not going to last long because it's so good!
Step 2:
To prepare roasted garlic, start by lining a baking sheet with nonstick foil, but don't throw it out after cooking. We discovered that roasting Asparagus in the oil adds a great flavor!
Cut the tops of the garlic bulbs, only the very top, and a little into the cloves, about ¼ to ½ inch off the top.
Step 3:
Drizzle olive oil over the garlic, sprinkle black pepper, and a little salt. For some extra spice, try adding red pepper flakes.
Step 4:
Wrap the foil tightly around the garlic and bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Don't forget to enjoy the amazing smell as it bakes. After the garlic has roasted, pull it out, uncover it, and let it rest.
Step 5:
Once the garlic has cooled, squeeze the meat of the garlic out of the skin and store it in a container in the refrigerator. Add a teaspoon, tablespoon, or more of the roasted garlic to your favorite dish.
Bonus Step
Save the foil you cook the garlic in! (We made, what we think may be, the BEST roasted garlic asparagus EVER!) Place the Asparagus on the foil that you cooked the garlic on, so it absorbs all of the garlic, olive oil, and salt/pepper yummy-ness it can! Roast it for about 10 minutes in a 375-degree oven.
