I just love making Stir Fry! It’s a favorite in our house. These days, we’re not going out as much, so we decided to find a recipe that made use of the ingredients we already had at home. The best thing about Stir Fry is that the basic ingredients are pretty much the same, so we get to add whatever veggies or meats we feel like having. We used soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch to thicken the sauce, and it turned out great! We had so much fun trying out different ingredients we found in the fridge, like shrimp, broccoli, and red peppers to add some heat. In no time, we had ourselves a delicious and spicy garlic shrimp and broccoli Stir Fry that was ready to be enjoyed. 😀
Spicy Garlic Shrimp and Broccoli
Cooking Fun
As previously mentioned, one of the great things about making a stir fry is the ability to substitute ingredients. For instance, we had Shrimp in the freezer, but Chicken could have been used instead. Additionally, we had Oyster Sauce available, but Hoisin sauce would have been a suitable alternative. Fresh garlic may also be replaced with garlic powder. We believe that the joy of cooking and creating new recipes is not stressing over ingredients that may not be available. Instead, find a substitute with a similar flavor that you enjoy. For example, if you dislike the taste of Cilantro, Parsley or spring onions can be used as substitutes in most recipes.

- To reduce the calorie count, be sure to measure the oil used.
- If you prefer a milder taste, omit the crushed red pepper flakes and dried peppers.
- For the stir fry, Peanut oil, vegetable oil, or Hot Chili Oil are all suitable options. Peanut oil is a good choice as it heats up quickly and has a mild flavor, which is ideal for stir-frying.
