Get Your Game On!
We share a common interest in sports, with hockey and football being our top picks. We agree that playoff hockey can be intense, and it takes a lot to relax between games. The Super Bowl is also a favorite; with the luxury of two weeks to prepare for the grand event, there's plenty of time to plan. We are excited about it! We have arranged a variety of appetizers and have some helpful suggestions on how to get ready for the BIG PARTY!
Game Day Party Tips:
- Plan your menu for the party. If I take 10 to 15 minutes to plan, it will save me hours in the long run. Write down your menu. Don't just do it in your head. Trust me, things will be forgotten. Plus, if you write everything down, you can plan when to make stuff.
- Go through your pantry and fridge to see what you already have.
- Write down a detailed grocery list of everything needed for the party.
- Cook what you can ahead of time. Most appetizers can be reheated just before guests arrive.
- Go to the grocery store early in the morning. Remember how busy the store gets in mid-afternoon?
- Place the foods together for each recipe. That way, when you make the recipe, time isn't wasted trying to find the ingredient.
- Plan which appetizers or recipes you can cook at the same time.
- You can plan the serving dishes ahead of time and place them where you will serve the food.
- Place tags on the plates for what will be served on each serving plate.
- You don't need to worry about having matching serving plates. It's more fun if you have a ton of different ones.
- Remember to have plenty of ice!!!!
- Relax. Don't stress over the party; everyone will have a good time even if something doesn't make it to the table.
- Please don't hesitate to ask for help. Don't be like me and think you have to do everything. I have had parties where I've asked everyone to bring their favorite dish. They have always been fun parties because everyone has pride in their food.

Notice all the serving plates with names on them. This helps so much when you go to place the food out.
Party Tip for Veggie Trays
To start, consider which vegetables you would like to include on your tray. I recommend selecting bright-colored options such as red, yellow, orange, and green peppers, as they always seem to be crowd-pleasers. Additionally, celery pairs well with chicken wings, so it's a great option to include. Personally, I always include radishes as I love them, but feel free to add your favorite vegetables. Cucumbers are also a fantastic choice if you can find fresh ones. Other great options for a veggie tray include carrots, green onions, cherry tomatoes, artichokes, mushrooms, pickles, broccoli, or any other veggies you prefer. Even grilled veggies would be amazing!
Slice the vegetables a few days before the party so you can snack on them and be prepared. Just don't be like me and eat all the veggies before the party!!!!
Put the veggies in a plastic bag and store them in the fridge.
I don't think the radishes will make it to the party! I usually eat all of them before they are even close to the tray.
On a side note: We like having veggies like this in the fridge all the time. It's a great snack with very few calories.
