Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is extremely easy to make and a much healthier version of this classic comfort food. Usually, Chicken Parmesan is fried in oil which adds several calories and don't get me started about the clean up!!! This air fryer recipe makes a juicy crispy chicken bursting with flavor and is ready in less than 20 minutes. It takes longer to get the water boiling for the pasta than it does to air fry the Chicken!
I used to only have "Chicken Parmesan or Veal Parmesan" when I would go out to a really nice Italian restaurant. I figure why mess up my kitchen? Yes, I don't like to clean up! I mean who enjoys cleaning up oil splatter?
Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan
Chicken Parmesan (also called Chicken Parmigiana) is a very popular dish around the world. Usually, the Chicken is pan-fried and then baked with the sauce and cheese and oftentimes doesn't have enough flavor or seasoning. This Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is full of flavor and has a great crunch.
We found getting a really good marinara sauce and then adding some additional spice to the sauce gives the perfect sauce for Chicken Parmesan. We usually add Roasted Garlic, oregano, and some fresh basil if we have it available to the jarred marinara sauce.
TIPS:
- The Chicken will have a nice crunch by lightly coating it with cornstarch
- Use a good cooking spray like olive oil or butter spray to spray the air fryer and the chicken. This helps to brown the breading and keeps the chicken from sticking to the air fryer
- Using Parchment paper helps with cleaning up the air fryer. We usually use parchment paper when we are making something with dough. But it works great for anything made in the air fryer.
- If you want to cut the calories this Chicken Parmesan is great with Spaghetti Squash.
Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan with Pasta
Ingredients
- 1 ½ Pound Chicken Breast
- 1 Egg
- ¾ Cup Panko
- ½ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 3 Tablespoon Corn Starch
- 3 Ounces Low fat mozzarella Cheese
- 24 Ounces Marinara Sauce
- 8 Ounces Spaghetti or Angel Hair
- Cooking Spray
Instructions
- Cook Pasta According to package directions.Mix together in a shallow bowl - Panko, Parmesan Cheese, Oregano, Garlic, and Salt
- Beat One Egg in a shallow bowl
- Cut Chicken Breast in half
- Sprinkle Corn Starch on Chicken Breast
- Dip Chicken Breast in Egg
- Roll Chicken into the Panko mixture
- Spray cooking spray on the Air Fryer bottom and sides.
- Place Chicken breast into air fryer basket. Spray the breaded chicken lightly with olive oil Spray. Cook for 9 minutes in Air Fryer at 400°
- Flip the Chicken over. Spray with cooking spray. Cook for 4 more minutes. Make Sure the chicken reaches 165 degrees
- Place ½ Ounce of cheese on each Chicken Breast. Melt Cheese in Airfry at 400° for 3 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Heat the Marinara Sauce. Place the cooked Pasta in the serving dish. Pour heated Marinara Sauce on top.
- Remove Chicken from the Air Fryer place it on top of the Pasta
- Serve with your favorite wine and Enjoy!!!!
