I'm a big fan of tuna fish sandwiches, especially during the summer when they're so flavorful. Have you ever tried an Air Fryer Tuna Melt? It's a fun way to elevate an already delicious sandwich. And let's be honest, cheese makes everything better, doesn't it?
For this recipe, we used a light mixture of light mayonnaise and light sour cream to make a low-fat filling. We always go for white chunk tuna in water when making a tuna fish sandwich. By air frying the Tuna Melt, we skipped using oil or butter to brown the bread. To make things easier, we also used a premade pie crust.
I must say, this was the best Tuna Melt sandwich I have ever had. It was filled with delicious flavors, very easy to make, and incredibly enjoyable to eat!
Cutting the Calories in the Tuna Melt
The Tuna Melt sandwich is often considered a good choice for those who are conscious about their diet. However, there are ways to reduce the calorie count. We have discovered that by using light mayonnaise instead of regular mayonnaise, you can significantly cut down the calorie intake. For instance, one cup of light mayonnaise contains only 580 calories, while a cup of regular mayonnaise has 1496 calories. The taste remains the same, so it's a win-win situation. Additionally, we have devised a recipe for a light sour cream mixture that can help reduce the calorie count even further. One cup of light sour cream contains only 337 calories.
We have found that a blend of light mayonnaise, light sour cream, and a dash of lemon juice has a richer taste than regular mayonnaise. The best part is that this combination allows you to cut down on calories, SOOOO we were able to enjoy a glass of wine with the Tuna Melt.
Another fun mixture is our homemade tartar sauce which is super good with Air Fryer Fish and Chips.
A few other of our favorite lower-calorie Air Fryer recipes are Chicken Parmesan, Pork Cutlet, Spring Rolls, and many more.
