Yes you can diet and still have French Fries
Who doesn't love French Fries? Since our focus is now on eating healthy we figured Fries would be one of those foods we would need to cut, at least until we're closer to our goal weight and know we won't go off the rails. I have to say, it was hard controlling the car when driving past those golden arches. Sometimes, I think we have a self-driving car that is programmed to stop at every fast food restaurant. Then, Crunchy Oven Baked French Fries with Parmesan Cheese came into our lives!!
Who doesn't get hungry for fries once in a while? We figured since we were able to take Corn Tortillas and make homemade Tortilla chips we could take a potato and make French fries. I mean how how hard could it be?
A few things we knew about French Fries:
- Made with potatoes
- FRIED
- Sprinkled with salt
- Served in a cardboard container
- DELICIOUS!
Since most fast food fries round out at about 450 calories for a large order (I mean is there any other size) this homemade fries recipe only has about 185 calories in comparison, that's a lot of calorie savings! Besides, we decided when we started our diet we were not going to give up the foods that we love. We just needed to reimagine a healthier and better-tasting version.
Baked French Fries - YUM!!!
We reimagined the Cheeseburger with a juicy Cheesy Turkey Burger. And what is a great Turkey Burger without fries? FRIES, not carrots, not asparagus fries, not bean sticks or Kale chips - we want long, skin-on, crispy, thin, hand-cut, French Fries made with potatoes. When it comes to fires the most important thing is crispiness, potato flavor, and that pinch of salt. I'm sure if you try these fries you won't even miss the ones from the fast food restaurants.
The only thing you need for these baked French fries is a large Russet potato, salt, a little olive oil, and parmesan cheese. They are so good you're going to want them even with a salad!!!
