We don't eat fast food often just because of the calories and we love to cook at home. If we happen to be out and are super hungry we'll go to McDonald's and usually grab a fish sandwich to go. Mainly because it's the smallest sandwich and it has the least calories. Also, it really does taste good! (Well, until we made this healthier air fryer fish sandwich version) :)We discovered we don't want to just eat to eat. Anything we are going to eat has to be something good.
This fish sandwich was so delicious and filling.
To be honest, with the changes we've made in our eating habits, our food must have great flavor. In other words, we're no longer eating just to eat. We are eating food with flavor that's a little more healthy.
We have found it is fun to make so many delicious easy recipes in the air fryer. So why not add a crunchy air fryer fish sandwich to the list of great recipes? Oh, and of course, some homemade tartar sauce.
Tips and tricks to make this Fish Sandwich
This is one of those no-fail recipes. It can be made in the air fryer or oven it's just faster in the air fryer. One of our best tips for getting a nice crispy crunch on this fish is to lightly spray the crust with cooking spray. We usually use olive oil or butter spray. Also adding cornstarch to the mix is another addition for the crunch.
At this point it can go in the air fryer or the oven.
This is a great sandwich to have with cheese and homemade tartar sauce or save some calories and leave off the bun and cheese. It's so delicious either way and is wonderful with homemade French fries.
