While enjoying a binge-watch session of one of the best TV shows- Billions, we decided to make something delicious to snack on. We were inspired by Axe, one of the main characters, who invested in his hometown pizza shop. That's when we came up with the idea of Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza Knots - a perfect combination of two delicious treats: Pizza and a cheeseburger all in one bite! Who wouldn't want to try this mouthwatering snack?
So, we were off to the grocery store to get all the ingredients and started making this yummy snack. It was a perfect combination of crispy bacon, savory cheese, and juicy turkey, all wrapped in a warm and fluffy dough. It made our binge-watch session even more enjoyable.
Bacon Cheeseburger pizza knots are so good!!!!
The process of deciding on the best way to make cheeseburger pizza knots was a lively discussion and a lot of laughs. I suggested using pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese, while Amy proposed using ketchup and mustard. Although I'm not a huge fan of ketchup, after we made these mouthwatering bacon cheeseburger meatballs, my opinion changed. We tried the meatballs with ketchup and mustard and discovered they tasted fantastic. We found the pizza sauce to be quite bland in comparison. Moreover, we even forgot to buy mozzarella cheese at the store, which I suspect was Amy's ploy to win the argument in favor of her idea!
Pizza knots are fun to make and eat!!!
These bacon cheeseburger pizza knots are incredibly easy to make and can be prepared in advance for parties, binge-watching favorite TV shows, or even after-school snacks. There are only five ingredients needed to make this tasty treat. If you like, you can add pickles to the knots for an extra burst of flavor. We opted for the cute little Vlasic dill pickles, which provided a satisfying crunch.
We started with store-bought pizza dough and cut it into thirds. Roll out the pizza dough. Although my cutting wasn't straight, I thought it added a bit of character to the knots. At least that's what I told Amy!
To prepare the pizza, begin by spreading a couple of tablespoons of ketchup over the crust, followed by one tablespoon of mustard. French's mustard works well but if you prefer something fancier, you could use Grey Poupon or any other type of mustard.
Once you have spread out the ketchup and mustard, sprinkle the cheese over the pizza and arrange the meatballs at the edge of the dough. Click here for the meatball recipe or you can use frozen store-bought meatballs.
After making the meatballs, wrap the dough around them and separate them by cutting in between. Pinch the edges and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Then check every couple of minutes until they are golden brown.
Enjoy. Yes, we had a nice cold beer with ours!!!
These meatball knots are made with ground turkey instead of beef, making them lower in calories but still just as filling. I ate 2 of them and was stuffed!
