Making my Grandma's Meatloaf
Old Fashioned Meatloaf Recipe that has been passed down in my family for generations. It's made with 80% to 85% fat hamburger and sausage. This makes it incredibly delicious, but may not be suitable for those watching their diet. If you prefer a more diet-friendly option, we have a new version of the recipe made with turkey meatloaf. We usually reserve this classic version for special occasions or when we're feeling nostalgic, but the turkey version is just as good, especially with the addition of crispy bacon on top.
Old Fashion Meatloaf
Whenever my brother Joshua, who is a Marine, comes to visit, we usually prepare this classic meatloaf recipe. He's a tall guy, standing at 6'5 and weighing about 185 pounds. So we indulge him with all the foods that we normally avoid. We'll add a photo of him enjoying the meatloaf the next time he visits us. If you have a family member who is a die-hard beef lover and can't be convinced to try turkey meatloaf, then they will definitely enjoy this recipe. Plus, the meatloaf sandwiches the next day are delicious, just like Grandma used to make them!
We traditionally serve this with a side of old-fashioned mashed potatoes and sometimes broccoli. Enjoy my grandma's old-fashioned Meatloaf Recipe as much as we do.
Food makes Memories
My mom and I have been exploring recipes from her childhood. We focus on reducing the calorie content while keeping the delicious flavors intact. Food has a way of triggering great memories. It's been enjoyable to experiment with these recipes while listening to my mom's stories of growing up. Coming from a dairy farm, she consumed calorie-rich meals back then.
As a child, I had the opportunity to spend my summers with my beloved Grandma and Grandpa. It was a far better experience than attending any summer camp. My grandma would prepare delicious poached eggs for breakfast whenever I requested them. I still wonder how she could achieve the perfect poached egg with butter in the yolk without spoiling the cutting experience. These times spent with my grandparents will forever remain close to my heart
