Need something for the next big game day????? We are so excited for the start of football season and had to come up with a new recipe for kick-off. You better believe we're making these Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings for the next game day watching OSU, the Browns, and the Patriots.
Heck, were so excited we actually watched some Pre-Season games. Come on Brownies this is our year!!!! We're also super excited about the Patriots and Ohio State teams. It's going to be a fun football season!
Ok, enough about football. These sweet and spicy chicken wings (or chicken fingers) are great any time. We made them and actually watched Orange County Housewives. Yes, we eat during the Housewives shows. We figure, they don't eat, so someone should.
Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings or Chicken Fingers
This might be one of my favorite ways to have Chicken Wings (I know I say this about all wings but. . .) They have so much flavor and we were lucky enough to find these fun little chicken wings that were already cut in pieces. We also sliced up a chicken breast and made chicken fingers (AKA chicken strips). Not sure what to call them, I just think chicken fingers are kind of funny.
How to make them
This chicken recipe might look difficult because it has so many ingredients, but none of the ingredients are difficult to find and you might already have them in your pantry. It's really just a matter of mixing all the ingredients together and pouring half of the sauce on the chicken and reserving the other half for dipping when the chicken is cooked.
The chicken should marinate for at least one hour. It's even better if the chicken marinates 3 to 4 hours or even overnight.
We grilled the chicken but this winter we will be baking them in the oven or Air Frying. If baking, preheat the oven to 400 degrees and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the chicken is done. Flip the chicken halfway through to ensure it cooks evenly. If Air Frying - Place chicken in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Make sure to flip the wings halfway through cooking.
Serve with the remainder of the sauce (the one that you reserved on the side) and/or serve with ranch dressing sauce. The Sweet and Spicy Sauce is also great with veggies like celery, cauliflower, radishes, broccoli or others. Use your imagination!!! Happy Game Watching!
