Easy Homemade Meatball Sandwich Bliss

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 Pound Ground Turkey 99% fat-free
  • 2 Cups Mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt

Meatball Sandwich

  • 14 Ounces Pizza Sauce or Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Optional Only if you want it Spicy
  • 2 Ounces Mozzarella Cheese
  • 4 Tablespoon Parmesan Cheese Grated
  • 4 Sub Rolls

Instructions

Meatballs

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Chop mushrooms with a knife or use a food processor.
  • Mix together Ground Turkey, Chopped Mushrooms, Garlic Powder, Oregano, Onion Powder, and Sea Salt.
  • Form into meatballs about the size of a walnut. Place meatballs on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 20 minutes. Or until cooked all the way through.

Meatball Sandwich

  • Place sauce in saute pan. Stir in the oregano, garlic powder, and crushed red peppers (if using).
    Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce.
    Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for at least 10 minutes.

  • Line a baking sheet with foil, cut open the rolls, and place them on the baking sheet. Place the meatballs and some sauce on each roll.

  • Sprinkle ½ ounce of grated mozzarella cheese and ½ Tablespoon of parmesan cheese onto each sandwich.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven on broil. Melt the cheese under the oven broiler for 1-2 minutes, watching it closely until it reaches the desired meltiness and slight browning on top.

Notes

If freezing, let the meatballs cool to room temp. Then put the meatballs into a freezer bag and place them in the freezer
